You can believe God for many things and still feel stuck in one painful place: family conflict. Silence at the table. Angry words. Years of unresolved hurt. Does that mean your faith failed?
Broken Families Do Not Mean God Rejected You
Scripture is full of complicated families — Jacob and Esau, Joseph and his brothers, even tension in Jesus' own household early on. Faithfulness is doing your part before God, not controlling every relative's response.
Forgiveness and Reconciliation Are Not Identical
- Forgiveness — you release revenge before God, whether or not they apologize
- Reconciliation — a restored relationship that needs truth, repentance, and safety on both sides
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. — Romans 12:18
Notice: "as far as it depends on you." You are responsible for your obedience, not for forcing intimacy where abuse or unrepentance continues.
Practical Steps for a Tense Home
- Pray for the person, not only against the pain
- Speak truth without shouting matches
- Set wise boundaries when needed
- Refuse bitterness — it taxes your soul more than theirs
- Invite trusted prayer covering from mature believers
